About Us
Since 1985, Eldoville Dairies has been dedicated to delivering high-quality dairy, yoghurt, and gourmet foods from our family farm in Ol Joro Orok, with a rich history and a commitment to innovation and community.
Our Story
Eldoville Dairies was founded in June 1985 by Lucy and James Karuga on a family farm near Ol Joro Orok in Nyandarua, Kenya. It began with a single crossbred cow named "Kioo," providing 20 litres of milk a day, and a hand cream separator producing just 2 litres of cream.
A breakthrough came when Hotel Intercontinental Nairobi needed 20 litres of cream daily. The Karugas invested in Jersey cows for higher-cream milk, and within a year were supplying the hotel - which then asked for yoghurt too. Within a year, Eldoville was producing around 50 litres of yoghurt daily in ten different flavours. As we like to say, "Eldoville effectively became a caterer to other caterers."
In 2005, with support from DANIDA and Danish expertise, we began producing our own cheese - Cheddar, Mozzarella, Feta, Paneer, Cream Cheese, Brie, and Camembert. Our single-portion cheeses went on to replace European imports on international flights served through JKIA's NAS kitchen, and by 2009 we'd added single-portion butter packs to airline catering too.
In 2017, we introduced WHEY COOL, a protein and mineral-rich drink made from cheese whey - turning a by-product of our cheese-making into something new for a younger generation of customers.
"Our mission is to be the leader in value addition within the dairy sector and food processing across Kenya and the Eastern Africa region."
